It's not easy being far from your home country and being abroad for the first time, even if it was just for a few months, I thought it would really be challenging. And being in China, I didn't think I'd be able to find a church, that's why I was so happy when I found the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception within walking distance from our apartment. We know that God is the only one we could really rely on and draw strength from when we feel homesick or tired. So I felt even happier when I found out that there were Bible studies held on Tuesdays. Going to mass and attending the Bible study sessions blessed me a lot because I saw and met inspiring people who served with much dedication through their time and talent. I was so amazed seeing how deep their relationship with God is and how much they know about the life of Christ. Through the experiences and knowledge shared after mass and during Bible study, I also gained a deeper understanding of our faith. What has always amazed me is seeing people from different countries serve as one. We may represent different races and cultures but we are all bonded by one Christ. I have always admired all the people who serve actively, consistently and faithfully and I pray that the Nanjing Catholic community continues to grow and may the church invite and inspire more people to want to know and love Jesus.
